If you own a Lectric XP Lite 1.0 and you've been living with the stock mechanical brakes, you already know the feeling: you squeeze the lever, and there's a half-second of nothing before the pads bite. On a 20 mph e-bike, that half-second matters. This kit replaces your front and rear brake assemblies with a complete hydraulic system built specifically to fit the XP Lite 1.0's cockpit and frame geometry.

This is a complete set — front and rear included. You're not buying one brake and hunting for the other. Both levers, both calipers, both pre-bled hoses, and the necessary hardware ship together. The hoses are cut and routed for the XP Lite 1.0 specifically, which is worth saying plainly: hose length is one of the most common fitment complaints with aftermarket brake kits in general, so we've been deliberate about making sure the hose lengths match the actual cable routing on this frame. If you have a different model — the XP 3.0, the XP 2.0, or any Engwe — please message us before ordering, because the correct hose lengths and lever orientations differ between bikes and we carry model-specific kits.

The system uses a 2-piston caliper configuration on both ends. It's not a 4-piston race setup, and it doesn't need to be — the XP Lite 1.0 is a commuter and recreational bike, and a well-bled 2-piston hydraulic caliper provides stopping power that is meaningfully better than the cable-actuated brakes the bike ships with. You'll notice the difference most in wet conditions and on longer descents where mechanical brakes start to fade. The kit also includes power-off (motor inhibitor) sensors built into the levers, so when you pull a lever, the motor cuts out immediately rather than fighting against your braking. This is not a cosmetic upgrade — it changes how the bike feels to ride.

Installation is straightforward if you've worked on hydraulic brakes before. If you haven't, it's still doable, but plan for a full afternoon rather than an hour. You'll be removing the old levers and calipers, mounting the new ones, routing the hoses, and confirming the system is bled correctly before you ride. The brakes arrive pre-bled from the factory, which saves you the most technically fussy part of hydraulic brake work — but you should still check the feel at the lever before your first ride and bleed if necessary. A complete installation guide is included, and we're reachable by email if you run into questions mid-install.

Orders ship from our warehouse in Spain within 1-3 business days, with delivery typically landing between 7 and 12 business days after dispatch, depending on your location and local customs clearance. You'll receive a tracking number by email once the order leaves our facility. We inspect every brake kit before it ships, but if something arrives damaged or not as described — wrong hose length, incorrect lever orientation, anything that doesn't match your order — contact us immediately with photos and your order number. We take quality issues seriously and work to resolve them quickly.

If you're on the fence about whether this is worth doing: hydraulic brakes on a stock-geometry bike like the XP Lite 1.0 are one of the few upgrades that change every single ride, not just edge cases. Consistent lever feel, no cable stretch to adjust, and genuine modulation under hard braking. It's a practical upgrade with a straightforward installation, and the parts are purpose-fit for this specific bike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this kit fit my Lectric XP Lite 1.0?
Yes — this kit is built specifically for the Lectric XP Lite 1.0, with hose lengths and lever orientation matched to that frame. If you ride a different model (XP 2.0, XP 3.0, or any other brand), please contact us before ordering, as hose lengths and configurations differ between bikes and we carry separate kits for other models.

Where does this ship from and how long does delivery take?
Fast international shipping — most orders arrive within 5-7 business days. You'll receive a tracking number once your order has been dispatched. Contact us at info@amperbike.com if you have questions about your region.

How hard is it to install hydraulic brakes if I've never done it before?
If you're comfortable with basic bike maintenance, this is manageable — budget a full afternoon, not an hour. The brakes arrive pre-bled, which removes the most technical step, but you'll still need to remove the old levers and calipers, mount the new hardware, and route the hoses correctly before riding. An installation guide is included, and we're available by email if you hit a snag.

Does this kit include power-off (motor inhibitor) sensors in the levers?
Yes. Both brake levers include power-off sensors that cut motor power the moment you squeeze a lever, so the motor isn't working against your braking. This is included in the kit as standard, not an add-on.

Installation Notes

You'll need a 5mm and 4mm hex key (Allen wrench), a torque wrench if you want to be precise on caliper bolts, and a clean rag. If the pre-bled system feels spongy at the lever when you first test it, a mineral oil bleed kit will also be useful — but many installs don't require it.

Start by removing the existing mechanical brake levers and calipers from your XP Lite 1.0. Mount the new hydraulic levers on the handlebars, then route the hoses along the frame following the same path as your original brake cables — front brake to the front caliper, rear to the rear. The hoses are cut for this specific model, so if a hose seems too short or too long to reach its caliper, stop and contact us before cutting or forcing anything.

Once calipers are bolted to the mounts and hoses are connected, squeeze each lever several times and check for firm, consistent resistance. Center the caliper over the rotor by loosening the caliper mounting bolts slightly, squeezing the lever to seat the pads, then retorquing the bolts. Confirm the motor inhibitor sensors are functioning by squeezing each lever and verifying the motor cuts out on your display.

Total installation time for someone doing this for the first time is typically 2-3 hours. If you find fluid in the hose connections, the lever feels completely unresponsive, or the caliper won't align with the rotor after adjustment, those are signs to stop and reach out to us or a local bike shop rather than continue. Riding on an improperly bled or misaligned hydraulic brake is not safe.
